Girei, Adamawa State — In a significant effort to address youth unemployment and strengthen economic resilience, the Tijwun Care and Empowerment Foundation (TIJCEF) successfully organized a comprehensive Entrepreneurial Skills Development and Empowerment Programme for 50 young people at Zion Centre, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The initiative brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and young professionals from various communities with the aim of equipping them with practical business knowledge, leadership skills, and innovative strategies needed to succeed in today’s competitive economic environment.
The programme forms part of TIJCEF’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people through sustainable development interventions that create opportunities for economic independence, innovation, and community transformation. Recognizing the growing challenges of unemployment and limited access to economic opportunities among young Nigerians, the foundation designed the training to inspire participants to embrace entrepreneurship as a viable pathway to personal and community development.
Speaking during the event, Emmanuel Sunday Tijwun, Executive Director of TIJCEF, emphasized the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and reducing poverty. He noted that the future of Nigeria depends largely on the ability of its young people to create solutions, build enterprises, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
According to him, entrepreneurial empowerment goes beyond teaching business concepts; it involves building confidence, fostering creativity, and providing young people with the mindset required to identify opportunities and transform ideas into successful ventures.
“Young people possess immense potential to become innovators, employers of labour, and agents of positive change. Through initiatives like this, we are investing in their capacity to create sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the growth of their communities,” he stated.
During the training, participants engaged in interactive sessions covering key areas of entrepreneurship, including business planning, financial literacy, digital marketing, customer relations, branding, leadership development, innovation, and enterprise management. Facilitators and resource persons provided practical insights, real-life examples, and hands-on guidance to help participants understand the fundamentals of starting and sustaining successful businesses.
The programme also encouraged participants to think beyond conventional employment opportunities by exploring innovative solutions to local challenges through entrepreneurship. Discussions focused on identifying community needs, developing business ideas, managing resources effectively, and leveraging technology to expand market reach.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to TIJCEF for the opportunity, describing the training as both informative and transformative. Many participants noted that the knowledge acquired during the programme had broadened their understanding of entrepreneurship and inspired them to pursue ventures capable of generating income and creating employment opportunities for others.
Several attendees highlighted the importance of mentorship and practical guidance received during the sessions, noting that the programme provided valuable tools that would assist them in making informed business decisions and navigating the challenges associated with starting and growing enterprises.
The Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme reflects TIJCEF’s broader vision of building resilient communities where young people have equitable access to opportunities, knowledge, and resources necessary to thrive. The foundation continues to champion initiatives focused on youth empowerment, women’s development, health education, climate action, research, and community resilience across Nigeria.
By investing in entrepreneurial capacity development, TIJCEF seeks to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals related to poverty reduction, decent work, economic growth, and social inclusion. The organization believes that empowering young people with practical skills and opportunities remains one of the most effective strategies for fostering long-term economic development and community stability.
As the programme concluded at Zion Centre in Girei, participants left with renewed motivation, enhanced knowledge, and a stronger determination to pursue entrepreneurial ventures capable of transforming their lives and positively impacting society.
The successful training of 50 youths stands as another milestone in TIJCEF’s commitment to empowering communities and creating pathways for sustainable development. Through continued collaboration with stakeholders, development partners, and community leaders, the foundation remains dedicated to nurturing a new generation of entrepreneurs equipped to drive innovation, create jobs, and contribute to a more prosperous and resilient Nigeria.
